A friend of mine sent me a link to Manu Chao and many other world musicians covering Bob Marley’s “ONE LOVE” …

Chao, the brilliant multi-lingual singer of Spanish-Basque origin who identifies with France and these musicians in the video are part of PLAYING FOR CHANGE…
WHO IS PLAYING FOR CHANGE?
According to their website, they are "… a movement created to inspire and connect the world through music, born from the shared belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people. Our primary focus is to record and film musicians performing in their natural environments and combine their talents and cultural power in innovative videos we call Songs Around The World.”
So searching around… I then found Sara Bareilles singing with PLAYING FOR CHANGE…

WHAT’S GOIN’ ON… was written by Obie Benson of the Four Tops . He gave them the song and they turned it down. They told him it was a protest song.
He said “No… it’s a song about realizing that to change the world, we all need love and understanding.” He approached Marvin Gaye about it… Gaye originally wanted to give it to a vocal group called the Originals… Benson convinced Gaye to do the song and Marvin rewrote the melody and added lyrics to give it more of a ghetto feel (Benson’s words).
It’s a timeless song … and hopefully, one day we will learn to understand each other… We have more in common than we have differences…

As for SARA BAREILLES … She’s the real deal and the first time I saw Sara was at a private show I hosted for KPRi-fm in San Diego… She opened up for Collective Soul and Eric Hutchinson…
She’s from Eureka, CA… and in addition to being a great songwriter, pianist, producer… her voice is unique in a musical world that is dominated by auto-tuned twinkies suffering from vocal-fry and who are more about marketing than actual talent.
What kind of talent are we speaking of? She’s done everything from Pop Music and TV to Broadway and Movies. And she’s a champion for women…
