From the “Personal Growth Department” … I was interviewing Adam Duritz of the “Counting Crows” years ago… I asked him about the band’s “growth” when they were touring in 2000 … and Adam said… “The only thing about this band that’s growing is our asses.”
That’s seems to be the case with me during this lockdown…
Heaven’s forbid that I’m the victim of a crime… because they will need more chalk.

And if they need to play a song at my funeral… They can play this one… From Jean Knight… She was with STAX Records in 1971 where they were turning out the coolest R&B and this was her hit… Turns out that she’s from New Orleans … (Just thought of a slogan for New Orleans Funeral Home… “Elysian Fields Authentic N’Awlins Funeral services… We Put the FUN in FUNeral..” )

You might have thought that Jean was a one-hit wonder but actually she covered the zydeco song “My Toot Toot” in 1985… and that broke the top 50 in the US…

There is another Gene Knight… (a radio legend in San Diego that I worked with who is having a birthday… so another coincidence…) So happy birthday to the Greener. Also happy Birthday to Pamela Howe… she did news on the show at KPRi for years… (actually did the news from her laundry room at her house in Temecula but no one could tell unless she had it on the Spin Cycle.)

And this all started as a conversation while I was drinking a “Blue Moon” at my friend Leo’s house… (That’s another song by the “Marcels” … you see how all of this is related? )
