Jeff Lynne was the guy with the Fro in ELO… Though if you watch this video, you’ll see that it looks like most of the guys in his band have a fro too. Is it me or were the hairstyles just a little weird… This song came out in 1979, the year of nylon shirts and pants…
What I love about it is that big “kick” drum and and of course “who the heck is BRUCE” …
Well it turns out that Jeff is singing the line “ Don’t bring me down… Groos.. ”
GROOS is german for “greetings”… and why did he sing that? Because in studio for this track, his engineer was from Germany and Jeff thought it would be a nice fit… rather than singing assorted “hoooos” or “woooos”… When I’m singing it though… it’s Bruce to me… Enjoy it…
